Bonjour/bonsoir!

It's been quite a day ... and the weather (despite the forecast) has behaved admirably!

SO up quite early again and another lovely breakfast at Auberge Saint Antoine.

I have a beautiful suite here at the hotel - the Penthouse Suite as it happens - number 601. There around 500 square foot of guestroom ... 1-bedroom with a king size bed and a hand-woven silk embroidered headboard, a gorgeous bathroom (cute tiles on walls and floor), a living room with fireplace and lovely sitting area ... I ALSO have a 700 square foot terrace with views up to Chateau Frontenac and St Lawrence River below ... when you watch the show, you will see how gorgeous it is!

OK - so next door to the hotel is the Museum of Civilisation where I was shown around by guide - Marie-France Boutin and the lovely Rebecca Salesse.

Quebec is a VERY historic city. For hundreds of years there were First Nations people living in this part of Canada. There are still around 250 First Nation tribes in Canada .... 11 of which live in Quebec. The French explorer Jacques Cartier "discovered" the area in 1534 but Samuel de Champlain "founded" Quebec in 1608. In 1763 the British took over Quebec in 1763. Of course Quebec is now a province in Canada and is WONDERFUL!

SO - I wandered about the Museum "learning" ...

With our great Guide & Driver & Friend, Michelle, we then drove to Wendake - the name for the Huron-Wendat reserve - home to the Wendake First Nations People. There are 8 families that make up the tribe and I spent the afternoon with Oney Maher one of the "elders". We had fun ... and I learnt about the ways of the Wendake people ... I also played "sticks" with a local ... and BEAT him! ha!

Back at hotel - exhausted - but with postcards and stuff to write!
