Greetings from Bothwell - a town around 50 minutes from Hobart.
I am staying at The Priory Country Lodge ... and I am in heaven! I have a glass of the finest Australian wine I have ever tasted (Domaine A) and I am sitting at a large cedar/pine kitchen table watching top chef Lisa preparing supper!
It's been a good day!
First up, check-out from Henry Jones and head to the Bonorong Wildlife Park in Brighton - 30 minutes from Hobart.
Here I met with owner Greg Irons (& Mum) for a wonderful 2 hours playing with, feeding, petting, cuddling and kissing: kangaroos, wombats, Tasmanian Devils, echnidas ... possums ... phew ... just so much! It's a wonderful place which is a labour of love for Greg and the staff. These animals are ALL rescued - are orphans or have been hurt in accidents. Rather than having them put down, Greg and his team are around 24/7 to rescue them. It's a wonderful advert for humanity ...
OK - Devils are like pussy cats (not angry and dangerous) , wombats may look cute but are slightly bonkers and kangaroos are just gorgeous!
What a terrific time we all had ...
About to have supper ... yum!
