the sun setting over Bora Bora

Greetings from the Four Seasons Resort, Bora Bora ...

We left Papeete this morning - early - and took a 40-minute flight followed by a 10-minute boat ride to arrive here. My old chum Brad is the PR here and has arranged a fabulous 7-days that will include ... well, you will have to wait to find out.

The French call this area French Polynesia ... the locals Tahiti and her Islands (we are 17100 kms from France!). There are a total of 118 islands (situated in 5 archipelagoes) that sit in 4 million square kilometres of sea ... that's the size of Europe. We are 5 hours from both New Zealand and from Hawaii ... i.e. in the middle of nowhere!

It is estimated that the Polynesians arrived here in 900 AD and by the way Bora Bora (or Pora Pora) stands for "first born".

Bora Bora is only 38 square kilometres ... and features arguably the most beautiful lagoon in the world. There are a few resorts on the island but we are staying in THE one.

Today has been all about getting used to island life ... it's stunning here ... I wish all the people I love were here to share ...
