Varun is travelling home from Istanbul tonight. He was going to write his Blog from the airport lounge. Sadly there is no access to the internet available in the airline lounge and since he will not get home until gone midnight, please forgive him if he updates you on his final day in Istanbul tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I can tell you that he has chatted with the Tourism and Promotions office today regarding Istanbul 2010 and the city's status as European Capital of Culture 2010. He has had a calligraphy lesson from highly-acclaimed artisan craftsman Savas Cevik - producing a good effort I think? Most importantly he also met 2 remarkably healthy "street cats" who were sunbathing on the streets of Istanbul..... well you know how he is with "fluffy creatures"...
