A short Diary today as it's been a rather long day for me ... and I just sleep ... and lots of it!

As you may have read, the UK has had some pretty adverse weather in the past week ... heavy snow - followed by flooding! Today my 4x4 took swimming lessons and I pleased to say is now an expert in "river-crossings" ... phew!

I didn't ever quite realise how addictive going to the gym/swim can be. Even though I have a wee sniffle and a sore throat, I still managed to drag my sorry carcass for a few laps of pool today ... and feel rather good about it. Fancy that!

I haven't actually smoked a proper cigar in three and a half weeks now and I am desperate. I was so tempted in Paris over the weekend - where smoking yukky-cigarettes is all the rage - to light a Davidoff while watching the boats zip up & down the River Seine but something stopped me ...

Tomorrow is a London day ... a visit to my favourite cigar shop in the world is on the cards.

By the way Moo has just wandered into my office begging for treats. Just when I think she is on her "last legs" she surprises me with a barrage of barking & begging! Go Moo!

Happy New Year!

(And yes, I do know it’s coming to the end of January).

I have taken a few weeks off from the Diary and indeed temporarily jumped-0ff the treadmill of life.

The past month has been peaceful, quiet, calming, sleepy, uneventful but also incredibly fulfilling.

I have visited the gym nearly every day (and have lost 8 kgs/18 pounds in the process), have finally made proper friends with my youngest cat (we have always had a fractious relationship), have rediscovered my love of reading the “classics” (both British and American) and have “uncluttered” my life in spectacular fashion … all very rewarding.

I have undertaken a wee bit of travelling – the highlight being a brief trip to Paris (more on that later in the week).

Travel Channel has designated that EVERY night at 10 pm CET (Europe, Middle East & Africa) and 10 & 11 pm GMT (Sky 251 & 252) is Inside Luxury Travel’s new permanent time-slot. In the run up to the new series airing, a repeat is on EVERY night!

Premiere airing dates for the new series are as follows (with repeats to follow):
